Without software, your computer is nothing more than an expensive desktop lamp. You need the right programmes to get your work done efficiently, protect yourself and your computer from dangers and annoyances and of course have fun with your system. Although the IT Service Centre is not a software shop, we will always be there to give you advise.

For staff members
We provide software procurement for all staff members via AskNet. AskNet AG is the contractual partner for many software licenses in Baden-Württemberg and provides the software for purposes of research and education. For procurement of your software we need a requisition slip with the exact name of the desired software. Please send it with internal mail or come by in person at the sofware selling point in room V 515. In most cases you will receive your software within a few days, sometimes even within minutes.
We will gladly advise you in person or on the phone about the right choice of software for your purposes or answer your questions about licenses and prices.
Freeware
Freeware is software which, as the name indicates, is free of charge. In many cases, these products are available in form of Open Source licenses, which grant extensive rights to users. The popular Mozilla products, Open Office as a free office suite and many other useful programmes come as freeware. Some of the programmes can be downloaded directly from our page, for other programmes we inserted links to the manufacturers' homepages, where you can find the latest versions.
A programme overview can be found on a separate subpage.

If you want to recommend further programmes which might be useful for others as well, please feel free to contact us.
